Garut (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daop 2 Bandung in West Java recorded 13,076 departing passengers during the 2026 Eid transport period at Garut Station in Garut Regency, West Java, representing a 6% increase compared to the previous Eid. “The cumulative departing passengers for the same period in 2025 were 12,299; the comparison between 2026 and 2025 shows a 6% rise,” said Kuswardojo, the Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 2 Bandung, when contacted from Garut on Sunday. He explained that Garut Station serves two long-distance commercial trains: the Papandayan train from Garut Station to Gambir, Jakarta, and the Cikuray train from Garut Station to Pasar Senen, Jakarta. During the 22-day 2026 Eid transport season, these two commercial trains recorded 13,076 departing passengers from Garut Station and 15,451 arriving passengers. He noted that the highest number of departing passengers was on 30 March 2026 with 828 people, while the highest arrivals were on 24 March 2026 with 901 people. The rail services at Garut Station, which was reactivated in 2022, are quite popular among the public for both departures and arrivals to Garut due to their punctuality, safety, and comfort. “Trains have become a favourite among the public because they are on time, safe, and comfortable,” he said. Kuswardojo mentioned that the number of passengers during the Eid season is much higher compared to the daily average of 250 to 300 passengers. “On a daily basis, the average daily passengers are around 250 to 300,” he said.
