KAI Reports 911,176 Tickets Sold During Eid al-Adha and Pancasila Holiday Period
JAKARTA — KAI has recorded 911,176 ticket sales for the travel period from 26 May to 1 June 2026, as of 10:00 WIB on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. The figure is expected to rise as sales continue. KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba stated that the extended holiday period coinciding with Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah and Pancasila Day has driven increased public mobility across regions. She noted high public enthusiasm since the first day of the long weekend. On Tuesday, 26 May 2026, KAI served 214,342 passengers, the highest single-day volume during the holiday period. ‘This long weekend, railways have become the primary choice for intercity travel. Besides being more convenient and comfortable, train journeys offer a more relaxed travel experience, allowing passengers to enjoy their holidays more pleasantly,’ Purba said. Destinations such as Yogyakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Solo, and Surabaya remain popular due to their tourist attractions, cuisine, culture, and integrated urban mobility access. Daily passenger occupancy data shows the highest usage on 26 May 2026 with 214,342 passengers. Subsequent daily volumes were 132,523 on 27 May, 109,059 on 28 May, 105,818 on 29 May, 117,073 on 30 May, 112,950 on 31 May, and a rise to 119,411 on 1 June. The Gambir–Yogyakarta route was the most sought-after with 14,189 passengers, followed by the Yogyakarta–Gambir route with 13,117 passengers. Additionally, travel to Semarang, Bandung, Sukabumi, and several cities along southern Java recorded strong ticket sales throughout the holiday period.
