KAI Regrets Car Collision with KA Argo Bromo Killing 4 People in Grobogan
PT KAI Daop 4 Semarang shares its condolences and regrets the incident, mourning the victims, stated Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 4 Semarang, Luqman Arif, in his statement on Friday (1/5/2026). The incident occurred at 02:52 WIB. As a result, KA Argo Bromo Anggrek was temporarily stopped outside the station (BLB) at Kradenan Station at 02:54 WIB for an inspection of the equipment’s condition. After checks by the Railway Equipment Crew (ASP) confirmed it was safe, the train resumed its journey at 02:56 WIB. KAI reminds the public not to engage in activities on the railway tracks. This is in accordance with Article 181 paragraph (1) of Law Number 23 of 2007 on Railways. The regulation states that everyone is prohibited from being in the railway track usage area, dragging or moving goods on the tracks, or crossing the railway tracks for purposes other than rail transport. KAI emphasises that it will continue to conduct safety socialisation, both internally and to the public, as a preventive measure to reduce the number of accidents at level crossings. It was previously reported that a fatal accident involving a car and a train occurred at the level crossing in Sugihan Hamlet, Tuko Village, Pulokulon Subdistrict, Grobogan Regency. As a result of the incident, four people were reported dead. “It is true that an accident occurred involving KA Argo Bromo Anggrek from Jakarta to Surabaya with a car at the Sugihan Hamlet railway crossing, Tuko Village, Pulokulon Subdistrict. A complete report will follow,” said Arif when confirmed by detikJateng on Friday (1/5) morning.
