Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Regional Operation 6 Yogyakarta recorded a significant surge in passenger numbers during the Idul Adha national holiday, from Wednesday (27 May) until 11:00 WIB, with 33,406 passengers.

Feni Novida Saragih, KAI Regional Operation 6 Yogyakarta’s Public Relations Manager, detailed on Wednesday that the total comprised 13,239 departing passengers and 20,167 arrivals across long-distance railway stations in the Regional Operation 6 area.

‘Compared to a regular Wednesday, departures increased by 10 per cent from the average of 12,000 customers. Meanwhile, arrivals saw a significant surge of 34 per cent compared to Tuesday’s average of 15,000 passengers,’ Feni said.

Feni explained that the figures remain dynamic as ‘go show’ ticket bookings are still being accommodated until midnight.

‘According to today’s data, 24,756 passengers are scheduled to depart from Regional Operation 6 area next Monday. This number is expected to rise further as ticket bookings continue,’ she added.

To support public mobility during the extended weekend holiday, KAI Regional Operation 6 has deployed seven additional train services, ranging from economy to executive class.

The move aims to provide alternative departure options for holidaymakers. The additional services cover routes including Yogyakarta-Surabaya Gubeng, Solo Balapan-Gambir, Yogyakarta-Gambir, Solo Balapan-Bandung, and Lempuyangan-Pasarsenen.

‘We urge the public to continue using rail services as a safe, comfortable, environmentally friendly, and punctual mode of transport. Tickets can be easily booked via the Access by KAI app, KAI’s website, or official ticketing partners,’ Feni said.
