To obtain affordable Lebaran transport tickets for 2026, PT Kereta Api Indonesia Regional Division I Sumatra Utara is sharing strategies with the public through optimised promotional programmes and reduction tariffs. This approach serves as an intelligent solution amid increasing public mobility during the Ramadan period.

As of Thursday 12 March, 93,267 tickets had been sold from a total capacity of 231,000 seats for the departure period of 11 March to 1 April 2026.

Acting Head of Public Relations for KAI Divre I Sumatra Utara, Anwar Yuli Prastyo, explained that the first strategy for the public is to take advantage of the Government Economic Stimulus Promotion Programme and Ramadan Festive 2026.

“This programme offers ticket price reductions of up to 30 per cent for commercial train services, particularly the KA Sribilah Utama and KA Sribilah Facultative services on the Medan–Rantauprapat route. As of Thursday 12 March, public interest has been quite high, as evidenced by 6,999 promotional tickets already sold,” said Anwar.

The 30 per cent promotional ticket discount, which is an economic stimulus from the government, applies to journeys in the period of 14–29 March 2026. Meanwhile, the Ramadan Festive 2026 discount can be utilised by customers for departures in the period of 9 to 20 March 2026.

In addition to promotional programmes, KAI also provides reduction tariffs that target specific customer groups on a permanent basis. This facility is intended for pensioners, persons with disabilities, members of the Indonesian Veterans Legion (LVRI), active members of the Armed Forces and National Police, and academic community members and alumni from partner universities.

To benefit from the reduction tariff, members of the public can register by bringing their identity card and original identity documents such as employee cards or alumni cards to the Customer Service desk at train stations to activate their reduction rights in the KAI system. Once registered, ticket bookings with automatic discounts can be made at any time through the reduction menu in the Access by KAI application.

“The reduction tariff cannot be combined with the 30 per cent promotional programme currently running. For members of the public who do not receive the 30 per cent discount, this reduction facility can be utilised to still obtain tickets at more economical prices,” he added.

Anwar also advised the public to be discerning in choosing the tariff scheme that is most advantageous according to their passenger profile.

The provision of various tariff schemes, Anwar continued, is a commitment by KAI Divre I Sumut to provide safe, secure and reliable transportation services, whilst offering more affordable travel options for the public during the Lebaran mudik season in 2026.

“By planning travel in advance, members of the public can ensure they benefit from cost efficiency programmes provided through government economic stimulus or discounts from KAI,” said Anwar.
