KAI Regional Division I North Sumatra Sells 72,664 Eid Travel Tickets, Thousands of Seats Sold Through 30 Per Cent Discount
Railway ticket sales for the 2026 Eid travel season in the PT Kereta Api Indonesia Regional Division I North Sumatra region continue to rise ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri. To date, 72,664 tickets have been sold out of a total capacity of 213,000 seats provided for the travel period from 11 March to 1 April 2026.
Acting Public Relations Manager of KAI Regional Division I North Sumatra, Anwar Yuli Prastyo, revealed that booking trends demonstrate strong public interest in using rail transport for homebound travel during the holiday period.
“Bookings continue and are predicted to peak as departure dates approach. Railways remain the preferred choice because they offer safety, comfort, and punctuality,” said Anwar on Monday (9 March).
Of the total 72,664 tickets sold, 4,526 were purchased through the government’s economic stimulus programme and the 2026 Ramadan Festive promotion. This programme offers discounts of up to 30 per cent specifically for Sribilah Utama and Sribilah Fakultatif trains on the Medan–Rantauprapat round-trip route.
The 30 per cent discount from the government stimulus is available in the economy class of the Sribilah Fakultatif train for departures scheduled between 14–29 March 2026. Meanwhile, the Ramadan Festive programme applies to departures from 9–20 March 2026 on both the Sribilah Utama and Fakultatif services. Both promotions can be accessed through the Access by KAI application and other official channels whilst quotas remain available.
“Through these various discount programmes, KAI wishes to provide a more economical transport alternative for prospective passengers planning early homebound travel,” he explained.
Given the continuously diminishing seat availability, KAI Regional Division I North Sumatra urges customers to arrange their departure schedules promptly and conduct transactions through digital channels to secure tickets at their desired travel times.
“We are committed to providing the best experience for every traveller through sincere service and adequate facilities to ensure safe and memorable journeys. All KAI Regional Division I North Sumatra staff are ready to serve wholeheartedly to ensure the public can celebrate Eid 2026 safely and comfortably,” said Anwar.
The government has prepared an economic stimulus package worth Rp12.83 trillion to support the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026 momentum.
