KAI Regional Division I North Sumatra Prepares 28,000 Tickets for Easter Long Holiday
PT Kereta Api Indonesia Regional Division I North Sumatra has prepared 28,440 seats to anticipate the increase in passengers during the Easter long holiday period, running from 3 to 5 April 2026.
Acting Head of Public Relations for KAI Regional Division I North Sumatra, Anwar Yuli Prastyo, stated that 9,480 seats are available daily to accommodate the high mobility of the public wishing to travel for tourism or to visit family.
“The long holiday period is often utilised by the public for travelling. Trains remain the primary choice due to their comfort and punctuality, especially when road traffic density increases,” said Anwar on Thursday (2/4).
For this long holiday, KAI Regional Division I North Sumatra operates 22 train services daily, connecting Medan City to favourite destinations such as Tebing Tinggi, Pematangsiantar, Tanjungbalai, and Rantauprapat.
To increase capacity, KAI Regional Division I North Sumatra also ensures the operation of the optional KA Sribilah for the Medan-Rantauprapat (return) route. The presence of this additional train aims to provide scheduling flexibility for prospective passengers on that line.
Based on data, the optional KA Sribilah is quite popular among customers in North Sumatra. During the 2026 Lebaran transport period, which lasted 22 days previously, this trainset served 22,455 passengers.
“The high passenger numbers during Lebaran prove that the optional KA Sribilah is highly relied upon by the public for inter-city mobility in the North Sumatra region,” said Anwar. (H-2)
