PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Regional Division I Sumatra Utara held a troop deployment ceremony at the Division I Sumatra Utara office, marking the beginning of the 2026 Eid Holiday Transport Post (Posko Angkutan Lebaran) which will run for 18 days from 13 to 30 March 2026.

“This ceremony represents our commitment that KAI Regional Division I Sumatra Utara is ready to serve the community. Readiness encompasses operational aspects, human resources, facilities, infrastructure, and quality service improvements,” stated Anwar Yuli Prastyo, Acting Public Relations Manager at KAI Regional Division I Sumatra Utara, on Friday (13 March).

To anticipate increased public demand, KAI Regional Division I Sumatra Utara has been operating the KA Sribilah Facultative train from March through 1 April. Additionally, one extra train has been added to both the KA Siantar Express and KA Putri Deli routes, with two additional trains added to the KA Sribilah Utama service.

“The total seating capacity provided during the 22-day 2026 Eid Holiday Transport period reaches 231,448 seats. As of Friday (13 March), 98,584 tickets have been sold. This figure is predicted to continue increasing given that bookings through the Access by KAI application and other official channels remain open,” Anwar explained.

To enhance passenger experience, KAI is providing 12,876 promotional tickets with discounts of up to 30 per cent. These promotions stem from the government’s economic stimulus programme and the 2026 Ramadan Festive campaign. Additionally, KAI will distribute free iftar meals at Medan Station for passengers during the period of 11–20 March.

To ensure railway travel safety, 176 additional personnel have been deployed. Extra personnel include 22 Track Inspection Officers (PPJ), 9 Supervision Area Guard Officers (PJD), and 145 Track Guard Officers (PJL).

“145 extra PJL officers will be deployed to secure 82 level crossing points that do not yet have boom gates. This measure aims to prevent traffic accidents given increased vehicle mobility during the 1447 Hijri Eid al-Fitr holiday,” he added.

Additionally, to ensure passenger security and comfort both at stations and on routes, KAI Regional Division I Sumatra Utara has deployed 368 security personnel. Of these, 292 comprise internal security from the Railway Special Police (Polsuska) and Security, whilst 76 others represent regional security support from both the military (TNI) and national police (Polri).

“Through careful preparation, KAI Regional Division I Sumatra Utara is committed to providing safe, secure, comfortable, and memorable transport for all customers during the 2026 Eid holiday exodus,” said Anwar.
