KAI Records Continued High Passenger Mobility at End of Eid Return Flow
Manager of Public Relations for PT KAI Daop 7 Madiun, Tohari, stated that passenger mobility using trains remains quite high as the end of the Eid holiday return period approaches in 2026. He explained that this trend is driven by people starting to return to their home cities to resume work activities and the impending end of school holidays. “Society is beginning to return to their respective home cities to work and engage in activities, while school holidays are about to end, so stations in the Daop 7 region are still observed to be quite crowded,” said Tohari in Madiun, East Java, on Saturday, 28 March 2026, as reported by Antara. Based on the latest data, the breakdown of departures at various Daop 7 Madiun stations on Friday, 27 March, reached 14,937 passengers, while arrivals numbered 10,776 passengers. Then on Saturday, 28 March, the number of departures reached 13,272 customers and arrivals 8,273 customers. “The data for departures and arrivals of customers on this Saturday is still dynamic until the last train departs and arrives at night at 24:00 WIB,” said Tohari. In cumulative terms so far since the start of the 2026 Eid Transportation period from 11-28 March, the total passengers departing from Daop Madiun has reached 187,960 people, while the total passengers arriving or alighting at Daop Madiun stations has reached 218,609 people. Tohari explained that compared to the same period in 2025, there has been a significant increase in service performance. Recorded, this year’s departure volume rose 7% from last year’s 175,426 customers, and arrival volume increased 5% from last year’s 209,061 customers. To support public mobility in the remaining Eid transportation period, KAI is providing two special fare programmes: a 30% discount on Economy Commercial train tickets for departures from 14 to 29 March 2026, and the Silaturahmi programme with a 20% price reduction for Executive class tickets for travel up to 1 April 2026. “We urge customers to arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure to avoid delays, considering traffic flow is still quite heavy on the weekend approaching the end of the 2026 Eid transportation period,” said Tohari.
