KAI Records 923,743 Tickets Sold During May 2026 Long Weekend Holiday
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded that during the first four days of the long weekend, 733,009 passengers had used KAI’s long-distance and local train services on Java and Sumatra islands.
“Meanwhile, as of Sunday, 17 May 2026 at 10:00 WIB, ticket sales for the period of departure from 13 to 17 May 2026 have reached 923,743 tickets,” said KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba in an official statement on Sunday (17/5/2026).
Anne said that the number is still increasing along with the high demand for travel during the return flow of the holiday.
“The return flow always presents very high public mobility in a relatively short period. The journey back to Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Semarang, and other major cities has begun to dominate since the weekend,” Anne explained.
She said that KAI continues to strive to maintain services so that people can return safely, comfortably, and on time.
According to Anne, the high mobility during the return flow also has an impact on economic activity in various regions along the railway lines.
Since Wednesday (13/5/2026), public mobility during the long holiday period has continued to increase.
On Wednesday, ticket sales were recorded at 196,370 tickets. The number then increased on Thursday (14/5/2026) to 197,368 tickets.
Meanwhile, on Friday (15/5/2026), the volume of ticket sales was recorded at 160,687 tickets. As the weekend approached, the number of passengers increased again.
