KAI Records 24 Million KRL Passengers During Eid 2026

PT KAI Commuter recorded a surge in passengers on its KRL commuter line services in Jabodetabek and the Palur-Yogyakarta route, as well as an increase in local commuter line passengers in several regions. Director of Operations and Marketing for KAI Commuter, Heri Siswanto, stated that this achievement even exceeded the initial projection of 22.4 million users. “KAI Commuter has served more than 24 million users, an increase of 9% compared to 2025. This achievement surpasses the initial projection set at 22.4 million users,” Heri said during his presentation at Juanda Station, Jakarta, on Monday (20/4/2026). During that period, KAI Commuter operated 1,297 commuter line trips in various operational areas, from Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, to Surabaya. The increase in users is also reflected in several daily records in various regions. He detailed that the Merak Commuter Line recorded 18,230 users on 29 March 2026. Then, the local commuter line in the Bandung area recorded 87,500 users on 23 March 2026. Meanwhile, for the Yogyakarta-Palur KRL commuter line, there were 46,600 users on 24 March 2026. In addition, the Prambanan Ekspres (Prameks) KRD recorded 6,666 users on 23 March 2026, while the local commuter line in Surabaya area 8 reached 57,677 users in one day on 26 March 2026. “This record achievement reflects the increasing trust of the public in using commuter lines, both for socialising with family and visiting various destinations during the Eid transportation period,” he explained. Heri added that the average daily users of the Jabodetabek KRL commuter line reached around 983,000 people. In fact, at certain moments such as Hari Bhayangkara, the number of users once exceeded 1.2 million people in a day. “In the first quarter of 2026, the Commuter Train recorded performance achievements by serving 86.8 million users, an increase of 5.7% compared to the previous year,” he concluded.
