KAI records 15,000 passengers using Siliwangi train during long holiday
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 2 Bandung recorded 15,825 passengers using the Siliwangi Train during the Islamic New Year 1448 H long holiday, which took place from 12 June to 16 June 2026.
KAI Daop 2 Bandung Public Relations Manager, Kuswardojo, stated on Wednesday that Cianjur Station recorded the highest number of departures during the long holiday, with 6,431 passengers departing from Cianjur Station on Wednesday morning alone.
Cipatat Station ranked second, with departures reaching 3,918 passengers. The high occupancy of the Siliwangi Train demonstrates the significant role of rail-based transport in supporting public mobility, particularly in the Cianjur, Cipatat, and Sukabumi areas.
“The connectivity provided by the Siliwangi Train supports economic activities and the tourism sector along the Cipatat-Cianjur-Sukabumi route, where public interest in using train services continues to increase,” he said.
He explained that the public prefers using trains as a means of transport for various purposes, ranging from daily commuting to family leisure trips during long holidays.
“We will continue our efforts to maintain service quality and ensure that train journeys are safe, secure, comfortable, and punctual,” he added.
Kuswardojo emphasised that the Siliwangi Train has become a reliable mode of transport for residents of Cianjur Regency and surrounding areas, expressing hope that this positive trend will be maintained through excellent service.
Meanwhile, several Siliwangi Train passengers expressed hope that the route could be extended to Bandung, as it was several years ago, to make it easier for the public to access affordable transport without traffic congestion, thereby reducing private vehicle usage.
“We are accustomed to using train transport for commuting to and from work in Sukabumi. We hope that in the future, the route will be extended to Bandung so that we do not incur high costs or face traffic jams when using other modes of transport,” said Rohimah (38), a resident of Cianjur.
