KAI records 15,000 passengers using Siliwangi train during long holiday

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi (Daop) 2 Bandung recorded a total of 15,825 passengers using the KA Siliwangi during the long holiday for the Islamic New Year 1848 H, which took place from 12 June to 16 June 2026. Daop 2 Bandung Public Relations Manager Kuswardojo stated on Wednesday that Cianjur Station recorded the highest number of departures during the holiday period, with 6,431 passengers departing from Cianjur Station on Wednesday morning alone. Cipatat Station ranked second with 3,918 departures. The high occupancy rate of the KA Siliwangi demonstrates the important role of rail-based transport in supporting public mobility, particularly in the Cianjur, Cipatat, and Sukabumi areas. “The connectivity provided by the KA Siliwangi supports economic activity and the tourism sector along the Cipatat-Cianjur-Sukabumi route, where public interest in using train services continues to increase,” he said. He explained that people increasingly prefer using trains as a means of transport for various purposes, from daily work commutes to family holiday trips during long breaks. “We will continue to strive to maintain service quality and ensure that train journeys are safe, secure, comfortable, and punctual,” he added. Kuswardojo emphasised that the KA Siliwangi has become a mainstay mode of transport for residents of Cianjur Regency and its surrounding areas, expressing hope that this positive trend will be sustained by providing the best possible service. Meanwhile, several KA Siliwangi passengers expressed hope that the train route could be extended to Bandung, as it was several years ago, to make it easier for the public to access affordable, congestion-free transport and reduce the use of private vehicles. “We are accustomed to using the train to commute to and from work in Sukabumi. We hope that in the future the route will be extended to Bandung, so we do not have to incur high costs and face traffic jams when using other modes of transport,” said Cianjur resident Rohimah, 38.
