PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) recorded 14,890 items found across various operational areas with an estimated value reaching approximately IDR 10.84 billion between January and July 2026. Of that total, 10,795 were ordinary items, 3,371 were valuables, and 724 were food items.

Vice President Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba stated that increased public mobility on weekends must be accompanied by attention to personal belongings, especially for customers travelling with family or carrying multiple items during the journey. She reminded passengers to recheck all their belongings before disembarking from the train or leaving the station area.

“Checking the luggage racks, seats, and the area around the customer is a simple step to ensure the journey ends comfortably,” Anne said in a written statement in Jakarta, Sunday (9/8/2026).

Anne explained that valuables secured by officers included mobile phones, tablets, laptops, jewellery, cash, as well as electronic devices and other valuable personal items. These various items were found inside train carriages and within station premises, then recorded and secured through KAI’s Lost and Found service.

“KAI data shows that in July 2026 alone, there were an additional 2,234 found items, including 502 valuables, with an estimated value of around IDR 1.98 billion,” Anne stated.

According to Anne, this record serves as an important reminder for customers, particularly when alighting in crowded station conditions. At the same time, KAI officers continue to assist in reuniting found items with their owners. “As of the end of July 2026, a total of 7,066 items have been returned to their owners after going through the recording and verification process,” Anne continued.

Anne urged passengers to immediately report to Customer Service, Passenger Service, the conductor, or security officers if they realise an item has been left behind. She said that information such as the train name or number, travel route, carriage and seat number, travel time, and the characteristics of the item would assist the tracing process. “Officers will then coordinate with personnel on board the train and at the relevant station to conduct the search,” Anne said.
