PT Kereta Api Indonesia Persero Operational Region 5 Purwokerto has ensured the readiness of facilities, infrastructure, and personnel to provide Eid transport services in 2026 through a Personnel Deployment Ceremony for Eid Transport Operations.

Following the ceremony held at the grounds of the KAI Daop 5 Purwokerto office in Banyumas District, Central Java, on Friday, KAI Purwokerto Head Mohamad Arie Fathurrochman stated that the activity was conducted to verify the readiness of all staff and production equipment to be used during the 2026 Eid transport period.

“This personnel deployment ceremony is intended to verify the readiness of all ranks at PT KAI, particularly at Daop 5 Purwokerto, regarding Eid transport,” he affirmed.

He stated that KAI had conducted various checks on facilities and infrastructure well in advance to ensure that all railway operations run safely and smoothly during the exodus period. Additionally, the company has coordinated with various parties, including the military and police, to support security measures during the Eid transport season.

“We have also requested assistance from the national police, military, and other relevant parties as a form of synergy to ensure that Eid transport can run well and smoothly,” he said.

In support of travel safety, Fathurrochman stated that KAI Purwokerto has deployed approximately 360 security personnel, including an additional 82 personnel from military and police units. These officers are stationed at various strategic points such as stations, aboard trains, and conducting patrols along rail tracks and vital railway infrastructure.

Beyond security, KAI has also prepared additional staff to ensure track conditions remain safe during the Eid transport season, including track inspection officers and level crossing attendants.

The company has also given special attention to several areas requiring intensive monitoring, such as areas prone to landslides and flooding. “In the Daop 5 Purwokerto region, there are three locations receiving special monitoring: the Langen–Banjar section, which has cliffs on both sides of the track and is prone to landslides; the Kawunganten–Jeruklegi area, which has a flood-prone bridge; and in the Linggapura area at KM 299, where bridge number 1109 is prone to sagging, requiring us to monitor the bridge supports,” he said.

Additionally, the company has increased supervision at level crossings, particularly unmanned ones, by deploying personnel at points with significant vehicle traffic. He stated that currently in the KAI Purwokerto region, there are 188 level crossings, with 151 being manned and 37 unmanned.

“We also urge the public to be more careful when crossing level crossings. Establish the practice of stopping, looking both left and right, and only proceeding if it is safe,” he said.

He indicated that the peak exodus of train passengers in the KAI Purwokerto region is estimated to occur two days before Eid, with approximately 13,000 passengers.

To enhance passenger comfort, the company has also prepared various facilities at stations, including more comfortable waiting areas, toilets including facilities for persons with disabilities, and musical entertainment and children’s play areas at several stations, including Purwokerto Station.

“We are committed to ensuring that every train journey during the Eid transport season is safe, comfortable, and smooth for the public,” said Arie.
