KAI Purwokerto Cancels Several Train Journeys Due to Bekasi Incident
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 5 Purwokerto has cancelled several train journeys passing through its region due to an incident involving a train in East Bekasi, West Java, which is still undergoing evacuation. The Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 5 Purwokerto, M. As’ad Habibuddin, in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Tuesday, stated that the cancellations are part of operational adjustments to ensure the safety of journeys and passengers amid the disruptions. “KAI Daop 5 Purwokerto extends its deepest apologies to the passengers. We have also sent notifications via SMS and WhatsApp regarding the affected train cancellations,” he said. He explained that the incident handling has been ongoing since Monday (27/4) to Tuesday (28/4), and KAI is continuously working to return the tracks to normal as soon as possible. Based on data as of 08:00 WIB, several trains passing through Daop 5 Purwokerto were cancelled on 27 April 2026, namely KA Mataram on the Pasar Senen-Solo Balapan route, KA Singasari on the Pasar Senen-Blitar route, KA Manahan on the Gambir-Solo Balapan route, and KA Progo on the Pasar Senen-Lempuyangan route. Meanwhile, on 28 April 2026, cancellations include KA Purwojaya on the Cilacap-Gambir and Gambir-Cilacap routes, KA Madiun Jaya on the Madiun-Pasar Senen route, KA Mataram on the Solo Balapan-Pasar Senen route, KA Singasari on the Blitar-Pasar Senen route, KA Manahan on the Solo Balapan-Gambir route, and KA Progo on the Lempuyangan-Pasar Senen route. “KAI ensures that affected passengers will receive services in accordance with applicable provisions, including a 100% refund of ticket fares excluding booking fees for journeys cancelled by KAI,” he said. He added that refunds can be processed at station counters or via Contact Centre 121 at 021-121, as well as the Access by KAI app through the VoIP feature. For the Daop 5 Purwokerto region, ticket cancellation services at counters are available at Purwokerto, Kroya, Cilacap, and Kutoarjo Stations. The deadline for submitting cancellations and refunds is a maximum of seven days from the date and time of departure stated on the ticket. “We will continue to provide updates on the handling and train journey information. The public can access information through KAI’s Contact Centre 121 and official social media channels,” he said. As’ad emphasised that KAI remains committed to prioritising safety, comfort, and service to passengers, while continuously coordinating efforts for operational recovery.
