PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operating Division 6 Yogyakarta has established special procedures for residents wishing to utilise the new currency exchange service at Yogyakarta Station and Solo Balapan Station during the 2026 Eid period. The service, resulting from collaboration with Bank Indonesia Special Region of Yogyakarta, is specifically intended for train users.

“The currency exchange service at this station is provided for long-distance train passengers who possess travel tickets with departure or arrival dates coinciding with the exchange day,” said KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta Public Relations Manager Feni Novida Saragih on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

In addition to presenting valid travel tickets, Feni stated that customers are required to bring original identity documents in the form of a national ID card (KTP). “This identification is for conducting the exchange transaction, which will commence daily at 09:00 WIB according to daily quota availability,” she explained.

The exchange mechanism is designed in integrated coordination with train travel schedules. For customers at Yogyakarta Station, service access is available at the southern entrance on Friday, 13 March and Monday and Tuesday, 16-17 March 2026. Meanwhile, passengers transiting through Solo Balapan Station will find the exchange location in front of the Joglo Room with service available on Friday, 13 March 2026.

Feni emphasised that these conditions are intended to provide exclusive convenience for homebound travellers to prepare for Eid more practically during their journey. Additionally, the service aims to facilitate customers travelling for the Eid exodus, enabling them to exchange new currency conveniently before continuing their journey.

Given the high public interest during the Ramadan period, KAI Daop 6 reminded the importance of adhering to schedules and providing complete required documentation to ensure orderly service at station areas.

Feni appealed to customers wishing to utilise this service to note the designated schedules and bring valid long-distance train tickets dated for the exchange date. “As this service is limited according to available quota,” she stated.

Through implementation of this measured mechanism, KAI Daop 6 hopes that integration of the currency exchange facility within the station area will improve time efficiency for homebound travellers and create a more convenient and functional travel experience during the Eid exodus.
