KAI Properti: Malioboro Corridor Serves as Public Space and Platform for Local SMEs

KAI Properti has stated that the Malioboro Corridor (Slasar Malioboro) at the Yogyakarta Station complex is being utilised as a public space and a platform for local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) to market their products, especially during the school holiday period. Agus Juanedi, Corporate Secretary of KAI Properti, said in Yogyakarta on Wednesday that the presence of the Malioboro Corridor aims to provide a comfortable and organised public space for visitors and tenants at the location. “The area is not only comfortable to visit but is also capable of becoming a business space that provides development opportunities for UMKM players,” Agus said. He noted that the Malioboro Corridor can serve as a well-organised business space for UMKM, while enriching the tourism experience for visitors and encouraging local economic activity. “The Malioboro Corridor is one manifestation of how business space, tourism activities, and public services can coexist,” he stated. According to Agus, visitors can enjoy a variety of culinary offerings and shop for local products in the Malioboro Corridor area within the Yogyakarta Station complex. “Through more integrated management, the Malioboro Corridor is expected to provide a better experience for visitors while creating a well-organised business ecosystem,” he said. He assessed that the Malioboro Corridor has become a favourite stopover point for tourists waiting for train departures, especially during the school holiday period. “Data from KAI Operational Area 6 Yogyakarta shows that as of 26 June 2026, there has been a 21 per cent increase in passenger mobility at Yogyakarta Station,” he said. He added that the Malioboro Corridor is easily accessible on foot as it is located within the Yogyakarta Station complex. The area offers a variety of culinary choices, UMKM products, and a relaxation area that can be enjoyed by the public and tourists alike.
