KAI President Director Emphasises Focus on Recovery for Train Travel Safety
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) President Director Bobby Rasyidin has emphasised that the company is focusing on restoring operations, assisting affected customers and families, and strengthening train travel safety following the Bekasi Timur incident. “Our current focus is to ensure the recovery process runs smoothly, to accompany customers and families (of the Bekasi Timur incident victims), and to maintain safety going forward. We will continue to be present in every process undertaken,” Bobby stated in a press release in Jakarta on Sunday. Bobby conducted a direct inspection of train operations, covering Commuter Line and long-distance train services on the Manggarai to Bekasi Timur route, to ensure safe and increasingly controlled travel ahead of the workweek. The visit began at Manggarai Station as the main operational hub, followed by traversing the Bekasi route to Bekasi Timur Station to directly observe the condition of electric rail (KRL) trains, the smoothness of long-distance trains, and the support services ongoing at the location. The inspection then continued to Primaya Bekasi Timur Hospital and Primaya Bekasi Barat Hospital to check on the condition of customers still undergoing treatment, while delivering direct support. Bobby also expressed appreciation for the support from various parties present during the handling process. At the Bekasi Timur Station area, flower arrangements and messages of prayer from the public were visibly arranged as a form of attention and care for the affected customers. “The care that has emerged becomes the strength to keep moving forward,” Bobby said. In line with the ongoing recovery process, KAI is conducting regular monitoring of customers’ conditions. As of Sunday (3/5) at 07.00 WIB, 81 treated customers have returned home after treatment, while 19 others are still receiving follow-up care in hospital.
