KAI Prepares Strategic Assets to Build Free Nutritious Meal Kitchens
The Space by KAI platform represents a breakthrough by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) in optimising the company’s strategic assets. Executive Vice President of Sales at KAI, Zulhril Alim, stated that the company’s total land assets reach 327 million square metres, which hold significant business potential. “This new platform facilitates interactions between KAI as the asset owner and prospective partners who wish to collaborate. We have many strategic locations, including stations, official residences, office buildings, and land spread across operational areas and regional divisions in Java and Sumatra,” Zulhril said during the launch of Space by KAI at Hotel Raffles Jakarta on Wednesday (10/6/2026). Zulhril conveyed that prospective partners can collaborate to utilise KAI land or assets for commercial purposes. He added that KAI’s strategic assets can also serve as an option to support various government strategic programmes, including the three million houses programme, the Red and White Village/Subdistrict Cooperatives, and the Nutritional Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) or Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) kitchens. “There are several locations already under contract to be used as SPPGs. However, we will need to check again for the detailed locations,” Zulhril stated. Zulhril continued that KAI ensures the assets listed on Space by KAI are clear and clean in terms of legal status. He explained that this is a form of mitigation so that potential partners are not disappointed when seeking to cooperate in utilising these strategic KAI assets. “Space by KAI contains assets that are ready for cooperation. Assets that still have problems, or are not yet clear and clean, will not be listed for the time being,” Zulhril added. Zulhril said that asset optimisation is an effort by KAI to increase the company’s revenue. He is optimistic that this business line from asset utilisation can contribute to boosting KAI’s income in the future. “Regarding the target, we are currently using a nominal figure, not a percentage. Our target is about Rp 320 billion for this year. The hope is for five per cent growth every year,” Zulhril concluded.
