PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Divisi Regional III Palembang is continuously implementing various anticipatory measures to ensure that the community’s transportation needs are optimally met during the long holiday period.

Palembang (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Divisi Regional III Palembang has prepared a total of 21,696 seats to serve the public’s needs during the long Ascension Day weekend from 13-18 May 2026.

Manager of Public Relations for PT KAI Divre III Palembang, Aida Suryanti, stated in Palembang on Tuesday that this seat capacity is provided for three train services operating in the Divre III Palembang region, heading to various areas in southern Sumatra, such as Prabumulih, Muara Enim, Lahat, Lubuk Linggau, and Tanjungkarang, Lampung.

Public interest in using train transportation during this long holiday period has seen a significant increase.

“KAI Divre III Palembang has prepared 21,696 seats to accommodate customer needs during the Ascension of Jesus Christ long holiday period. We are committed to providing safe, comfortable, secure, and on-time travel services for all customers,” she said.

She explained that as of now, the ticket sales rate has reached 103 per cent, with 22,396 tickets already booked by customers. The high sales figure is possible because train ticket bookings can be made up to 45 days before departure.

The high public enthusiasm for utilising the long holiday is facilitated through various official ticket sales channels, such as the Access by KAI application, the official KAI website, and other official channels in partnership with the company.

For the KA Rajabasa service departing from Kertapati Station to Tanjungkarang, the ticket sales rate has reached 130 per cent, or around 6,635 tickets sold. Meanwhile, for the return direction from Tanjungkarang to Kertapati, sold tickets have reached 124 per cent, or around 6,313 tickets.

The KA Bukit Serelo service departing from Kertapati to Lubuk Linggau has recorded sales of 120 per cent, or around 3,808 tickets. The journey from Lubuk Linggau to Kertapati has reached 119 per cent, or around 3,791 tickets.

Meanwhile, the KA Sindang Marga service departing from Kertapati to Lubuk Linggau has recorded a sales rate of 40 per cent, or around 1,024 tickets. The return journey from Lubuk Linggau to Kertapati has reached 33 per cent, or around 855 tickets.

To anticipate the high customer interest, KAI Divre III Palembang has added capacity to the KA Sindang Marga train set with one additional executive carriage with a capacity of 50 seats.

With this addition, the KA Sindang Marga train set now consists of five executive carriages, up from the previous four.

“KAI Divre III Palembang continues to implement various anticipatory measures to ensure that the community’s transportation needs are optimally met during the long holiday period,” she clarified.

In addition, they also encourage the public to utilise partial ticket purchases as an alternative if tickets to the final destination are no longer available.

Partial tickets are a booking system based on a certain distance or incomplete route, allowing customers to still have the opportunity to obtain tickets more flexibly to their desired destinations.

KAI also urges customers to regularly monitor ticket availability and various promotions through the Access by KAI application or other official services.
