KAI Operates Nine Additional Trains Today, Strengthening Public Mobility Options
Additional services are available on routes from Malang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Semarang and Surabaya to Jakarta.
Jakarta (ANTARA) — PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is operating nine additional train services on 8 September 2026 to provide travel options for the public amid growing mobility needs.
The additional train services cover routes to and from various cities, including Malang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Semarang, Surabaya and Jakarta. KAI continues to monitor public travel demand and prepare services in line with operational conditions on the ground.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said the additional services are operated with due regard to operational readiness, availability of rolling stock and railway travel safety.
“KAI continues to adjust its travel services to public needs whilst paying attention to operational readiness and safety. These additional trains give customers a wider choice of journeys,” said Anne.
The nine additional train services operated on 8 September 2026 are:
Additional train Malang–Gambir, departing at 20.15 WIB (Western Indonesia Time).
Additional train Solo–Gambir, departing at 17.20 WIB.
Additional train Gambir–Solo, departing at 07.10 WIB.
Additional train Yogyakarta–Gambir, departing at 22.00 WIB.
Additional train Gambir–Yogyakarta, departing at 11.50 WIB.
Additional train Semarang Tawang–Gambir, departing at 20.15 WIB.
Additional train Gambir–Semarang Tawang, departing at 11.20 WIB.
Additional train Gambir–Surabaya Pasarturi, departing at 12.40 WIB.
Additional train Surabaya Pasarturi–Gambir, departing at 11.00 WIB.
Anne urged customers to prepare their journeys carefully by checking departure schedules and ticket availability through the Access by KAI application, KAI’s official website and other official sales channels.
“KAI invites customers to arrive at the station early, confirm travel information before departure and follow the instructions of station staff so that journeys remain safe and comfortable,” said Anne.
In connection with volcanic activity at Mount Anak Krakatau and the potential exposure to volcanic ash in certain areas, KAI advised customers in affected regions to use masks where necessary and to look after their health whilst travelling.
KAI continues to monitor operational conditions and coordinate with relevant parties to ensure that train services remain safe and under control.
