KAI Offers 20 Percent Ticket Discount at North Sumatra Fair
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Regional Division (Divre) I North Sumatra is providing discounts of up to 20 per cent on train tickets for the public who transact at the KAI booth during the North Sumatra Fair (PRSU) 2026.
KAI Divre I North Sumatra Public Relations Manager, Anwar Yuli Prastyo, stated in Medan on Saturday that the promotion can be utilised by the public through direct purchases at the KAI booth located within the PRSU area from 3 July to 2 August 2026.
Notably, ticket bookings handled at the booth are not limited to train journeys within the North Sumatra region but also accommodate bookings for train travel on Java Island.
“For the residents of Medan who are planning to travel to Java by train, you can visit the KAI booth at PRSU 2026 and take advantage of the provided discounts to book your travel tickets,” said Anwar.
The discount applies to long-distance and medium-distance journeys on commercial trains for business and executive classes, with a departure period ranging from 3 July to 16 September 2026.
Anwar noted that the price reduction is 20 per cent for departures between Monday and Thursday, and 5 per cent for departures between Friday and Sunday, subject to the availability of promotional ticket allocations.
However, this promotion does not apply to special fares, reductions, or combinations with other discounts. The discount also cannot be used for specialised services such as Suite Class Compartment, Luxury, Priority, Imperial, Panoramic, and Tourist Trains. Nevertheless, these promotional tickets remain eligible for cancellation or rescheduling in accordance with existing regulations.
The introduction of this promotion coincides with the period of high public mobility during the school holiday season.
It was recorded that from 20 June to 4 July 2026, KAI Divre I North Sumatra served 130,179 passengers across various operational routes. This figure represents 103 per cent of the available capacity of 126,788 seats during that period.
In addition to ticket sales, the KAI booth at PRSU 2026 also serves as an information centre for the public to learn about travel schedules, face recognition registration guides, and instructions for using the Access by KAI application. Furthermore, there are games with attractive souvenir prizes for every customer who conducts a transaction at the KAI booth.
“KAI Divre I North Sumatra will continue to provide various service conveniences for the public. We urge customers to utilise this promotion according to their travel needs and to purchase tickets through official KAI channels to ensure transactions are safe and comfortable,” he added.
