KAI Offers 17% Discount and Rp8 Fares for Independence Day

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI is presenting the Special Promo 17-8-2026 to enliven the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia with the theme “Bersatu Berdaulat, Rakyat Sejahtera, Indonesia Maju.” Through this programme, KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin said the public can enjoy a 17 percent ticket discount for commercial economy class trains as well as a special Rp8 fare for LRT Jabodebek and Commuter Line journeys on 17 August 2026.

“In every journey there is family to be met, goals to be achieved, and moments to be celebrated. On Independence Day, KAI wants more people to be able to enjoy train travel and celebrate togetherness as a nation,” said Bobby in a written statement in Jakarta, Tuesday (10/8/2026).

KAI Vice President Corporate Communication Anne Purba said the promotion is presented to provide a wider opportunity for the public to use public transport during the Independence Day moment while inviting customers to celebrate 17 August through train journeys. Anne said the independence moment always has special meaning for the Indonesian people.

“KAI wants to bring that spirit into the customer journey through more affordable fares and public transport services that connect people with their various activities,” said Anne.

For commercial economy class train services, Anne said, KAI is providing a 17 percent discount from the normal fare. Promotional tickets can be purchased from 14 August 2026 at 00.01 WIB until 17 August 2026 at 24.00 WIB, specifically for departures on 17 August 2026 from 00.01 to 24.00 WIB.

Anne said the promotion applies to commercial economy class trains in accordance with the applicable terms and conditions. The public can purchase tickets through Access by KAI as well as other official KAI ticket sales channels.
