PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Divisi Regional I Sumatera Utara served 20,002 passengers over two days of Eid 2026 (Saturday and Sunday) to various destinations in North Sumatra. That figure consists of 10,123 people on Saturday (21/3) and 9,879 on Sunday, said Acting Head of Public Relations for KAI Division I North Sumatra, Anwar Yuli Prastyo, in Medan on Sunday. He also stated that on-time performance (OTP) is the main key to rail services. Over the 12-day transport period, departure OTP reached 99.85 per cent, while arrival OTP was at 99.55 per cent. From the 22 daily trip schedules operated, the on-time rate from departure stations to destination stations runs very reliably. This aligns with the commitment of KAI Division I North Sumatra to provide schedule certainty for the public who want to celebrate Eid 2026 in their hometowns, Anwar said. Data from KAI Division I North Sumatra shows that the KA Putri Deli service was the most popular, with a total of 47,383 customers. Anwar assessed that the combination of high trip frequency, namely six times a day, and affordable ticket prices is the main attraction for the people of North Sumatra. The KA Putri Deli has proven effective in accommodating public enthusiasm to go home safely and comfortably without road congestion issues, he said. Customer enthusiasm is predicted to remain high until the end of the joint leave period on 24 March 2026. Up to the 12th day of the Eid 2026 transport period, KAI Division I North Sumatra recorded ticket sales of 155,245 tickets or about 64 per cent of the total 241,848 seats provided. Anwar emphasised that all KAI Division I North Sumatra personnel remain fully on standby to maintain service consistency until the transport period ends. KAI’s current focus is to ensure every customer can return and depart safely, comfortably, and on time. KAI Division I North Sumatra is committed to maintaining this operational reliability as a form of appreciation for the great trust given by the people of North Sumatra, Anwar said.
