PT Kereta Api Indonesia Regional Division I North Sumatra has recorded 44,752 Eid holiday transport tickets booked by the public since booking opened through the first week of Ramadan 1447 H. This figure represents part of the total capacity of 231,704 seats provided for the travel period from 11 March to 1 April 2026.

Acting Manager of Public Relations for KAI Regional Division I North Sumatra, Anwar Yuli Prastyo, explained that of the 44,752 tickets sold, 1,398 were KA Sribilah Utama Fakultatif tickets for 14-29 March 2026 departures.

“During this period, the government is providing an economic stimulus in the form of a 30 per cent ticket discount. Customers can take advantage of this, making the cost of holiday travel more efficient,” said Anwar on Saturday (28/2).

Based on available data, from six journeys daily, KA Putri Deli for the Medan-Tanjungbalai route (return) on 21-24 March 2026 departures had sold out 100 per cent of capacity.

Therefore, customers planning to use the KA Putri Deli service during this period are urged to choose alternative departure dates with sufficient ticket availability remaining.

“The relatively affordable ticket price of KA Putri Deli makes it highly sought after by the public, especially during Eid holidays when many people need transport to return to their hometowns,” he added.

Overall, ticket availability in the North Sumatra Regional Division area remains sufficient. Particularly from 11 March onwards, as the Eid holiday transport period begins, KAI Regional Division I North Sumatra will also increase carriage capacity for all operating trains.

“From 11 March, KA Siantar Ekspres and KA Putri Deli will each have one economic-class carriage added. For KA Sribilah Utama, one executive-class carriage and one business-class carriage will be added. This increase provides greater opportunity for the public to obtain train tickets during the Eid holiday season,” said Anwar.

Given the increasing public interest in purchasing tickets, KAI Regional Division I North Sumatra urged residents to plan their journeys promptly by booking tickets through the Access by KAI application, the booking.kai.id website, or other official channels.

“KAI Regional Division I North Sumatra is fully committed to providing safe, comfortable, and enjoyable railway transport services to all members of the public to ensure smooth travel during the forthcoming Eid holiday transport period,” he concluded.
