KAI North Sumatra Integrates Rail into Umrah Travel Ecosystem
Medan (ANTARA) - Public Relations Manager of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) North Sumatra Region I, Anwar Yuli Prastyo, said KAI has made rail travel an integral part of a safe and comfortable umrah pilgrimage ecosystem for local residents.
A group of 121 umrah pilgrims from Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra, used the KA Sribilah Utama group transport service on the Rantauprapat–Araskabu route on Tuesday (21 July) as their mode of transport to Kualanamu International Airport.
“This rail-based journey has become a strategic choice for umrah travel agencies in connecting land transport with air travel. With schedule certainty, freedom from the risk of traffic congestion, and the cost efficiency of escorting a group, pilgrims can arrive punctually at Araskabu Station before continuing their journey to Kualanamu Airport and flying to the holy land,” he said in Medan on Tuesday.
According to him, the departure of an umrah group demands strict punctuality so that every stage of the journey to the airport runs smoothly. KAI provides a mobility solution that is reliable, efficient and low-risk, allowing prospective pilgrims to focus on preparing themselves physically and mentally for worship in the holy land without being hampered by travel fatigue.
The group transport service offers easy booking with a minimum of 10 passengers for Executive class and 20 passengers for Business class, as well as the opportunity to receive discounts of up to 10 per cent for large groups.
He said group bookings by general parties such as umrah travel agencies, institutions and communities are served using commercial trains such as the KA Sribilah Utama and KA Sribilah Fakultatif.
Meanwhile, bookings for subsidised (PSO) trains such as the KA Putri Deli, KA Siantar Express and KA Datuk Blambangan are allocated specifically for school groups to support educational trips and study excursions.
