KAI North Sumatra Integrates Rail into Umrah Travel Ecosystem

Medan - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Regional Division I North Sumatra has successfully integrated train services into the Umrah pilgrimage travel ecosystem, providing a safe and comfortable journey for the public. A total of 121 Umrah pilgrims from Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra, utilised the Sribilah Utama group transport service on the Rantauprapat–Araskabu route on Tuesday (21/7) as their mode of transport to Kualanamu International Airport. KAI Regional Division I North Sumatra Public Relations Manager Anwar Yuli Prastyo stated that this rail-based journey has become a strategic choice for Umrah bureaux in connecting land transport to air travel. “With schedule certainty, freedom from the risk of traffic congestion, and cost efficiency for group escorts, pilgrims can arrive on time at Araskabu Station before continuing their journey to Kualanamu Airport and flying to the Holy Land,” he said in Medan on Tuesday. He noted that the departure of Umrah groups requires strict punctuality to ensure all stages leading to the airport run smoothly. KAI provides a reliable, efficient, and low-risk mobility solution, allowing prospective pilgrims to focus on physical and mental preparation for worship in the Holy Land without being hindered by travel fatigue. The group transport service offers easy booking with a minimum of 10 passengers for Executive Class and 20 passengers for Business Class, along with the opportunity for a discount of up to 10 percent for large groups. He explained that general group bookings, such as Umrah travel, agencies, and communities, are served using commercial trains like the Sribilah Utama and Sribilah Fakultatif. Meanwhile, bookings for subsidised (PSO) trains such as the Putri Deli, Siantar Ekspres, and Datuk Blambangan are specifically allocated for student groups to support educational trips. “Thank you for the public’s trust in choosing the railway as a travel partner for worship.
