PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Regional Division I North Sumatra has successfully evacuated the Putri Deli train following a derailment caused by a collision with a truck at an unmanned level crossing between Lubuk Pakam and Perbaungan stations.

β€œThe U98 Putri Deli train experienced travel disruptions due to an incident involving a truck at an unmanned level crossing located at Kilometre 36+000 on the track section between Lubuk Pakam and Perbaungan stations at 14:50 WIB,” said Anwar Yuli Prastyo, Public Relations Manager of KAI Divre I North Sumatra, in Medan on Sunday.

The U98 Putri Deli train, operating on the Medan-Tanjungbalai route and having departed Medan Station at 14:00 WIB on Sunday, was disrupted by the collision at the aforementioned location.

All passengers were reported to be safe, although the driver of the Putri Deli train sustained injuries and has received medical treatment.

As an immediate response, KAI Divre I North Sumatra dispatched a replacement locomotive and a rescue carriage from Medan Station at 16:06 WIB to the incident site. The recovery efforts were successful, with both derailed axles being repositioned back onto the tracks by 19:04 WIB.

Following the recovery, track inspections are being conducted to ensure the safety of future travel, and the derailed locomotive and baggage carriage will be transported to Lubuk Pakam Station.
