KAI Maximises Passenger Evacuation to Restore DAOP 1 Operations to Normal
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is maximising the evacuation process for passengers affected in the accident incident between the Kereta Commuter Line and the long-distance Diesel Train (KRD) at Bekasi Timur Station, Bekasi, on Monday evening. KAI Daop 1 Jakarta’s Public Relations Manager, Franoto Wibowo, stated that the evacuation process is currently underway and hopes that operations in the Daerah Operasi (DAOP) 1 will return to normal. “Currently, PT KAI along with the police are carrying out the evacuation process for the train consist as well as handling the victims at the incident site. We are striving as much as possible to ensure that train operations can return to normal as soon as possible,” Franoto said in an official statement received on Monday evening. The disruption occurred due to the event of the KRL with operational code PLB 5568A (CL KPB–CKR) being hit by the long-distance train Argo Bromo Anggrek on the Gambir–Surabaya Pasar Turi route at the incident location, which impacted train operations on that line. KAI assures that field personnel have moved quickly to carry out handling and securing the location, as well as coordinating with relevant parties to accelerate the evacuation process and restoration of services. As a safety measure, the overhead power supply (LAA) on the Cibitung–Bekasi Timur line and the Bekasi Timur platform has been temporarily deactivated.
