The high number of arrivals shows that the Daop 7 Madiun area remains a favorite destination for people spending the Lunar New Year holiday.

Madiun (ANTARA) - PT KAI Regional Operations 7 Madiun in East Java recorded 60,250 passengers using trains during the long weekend coinciding with the Lunar New Year holiday from February 13–17, 2026.

KAI Daop 7 Madiun Public Relations Manager Tohari said in Madiun on Sunday that of the 60,250 passengers served, 28,756 were departing passengers and 31,494 were arriving passengers within the KAI Daop 7 Madiun service area.

“The high number of arrivals shows that the Daop 7 Madiun area remains a favorite destination for people to spend the long Lunar New Year holiday,” Tohari said.

On Friday (2/13/2026) specifically, the number of departing passengers reached 7,933 — an increase of approximately 32 percent compared to the average weekday figure of around 6,000 passengers. Meanwhile, arriving passengers totaled 9,489, or 58 percent more than the normal average.

To mark the Chinese New Year, KAI Daop 7 Madiun also greeted passengers by distributing souvenirs to train users. The event was centered at Madiun Station to celebrate Lunar New Year 2577 Kongzili.

“Through this passenger greeting and souvenir distribution, we want to create a warm and joyful atmosphere at the station. This is our way of showing appreciation to passengers who have entrusted their journeys to the railway,” he said.

KAI is also offering a 30 percent discount on train ticket purchases for departures from March 14 to 29, 2026.

“This 30 percent discount is our form of appreciation to the public. We want train travel to be increasingly affordable, punctual, and of course prioritizing safety,” he said.
