Jakarta – KAI Logistik, a subsidiary of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), has transported heavy cargo via integrated logistics services. By the end of May, the company is gradually sending 25 trains from Daop 1 Jakarta to Divre IV Tanjung Karang. Director of Business Development at KAI Logistik, Aniek Dwi Deviyanti, stated that this assignment is part of ongoing synergy between the parent and subsidiary companies to support increased capacity and optimisation of national railway operations. This strategic move is a tangible manifestation of strong synergy between the parent and subsidiary companies in efforts to optimise railway operations across the country. ‘Through the delivery of 25 trains, KAI Logistik is committed to supporting the readiness of passenger train facilities in Sumatra, particularly South Sumatra (Sumbagsel),’ Aniek said, quoted from her statement on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), railway passenger numbers in Non-Java regions (Sumatra and Sulawesi) in the first quarter of 2026 reached approximately 1.9 million people, or an average of 637,000 passengers per month. The additional rolling stock is expected to enhance public transportation services, making them more reliable and responsive to the mobility needs of Sumatra’s residents. The transportation process is carried out through the KALOG Pro service under the Project Logistics segment, which has specific capabilities for handling large-scale logistics requirements. For this shipment, 25 trains consisting of 18 passenger coaches, 3 dining cars, and 4 generator cars, with a total weight of 773 tonnes, are being moved. All handling processes are conducted under strict operational standards, from loading, securing units during transit, to distribution to the destination. Aniek added that the train distribution is being done via integrated multimodal routes to ensure optimal delivery. ‘The train distribution began on 24 May 2026 from JICT Station in Daop 1 Jakarta. The entire delivery process is estimated to take 60 days, though it may be completed sooner than the target due to the application of optimal and efficient operational practices at each stage,’ Aniek said.
