KAI Logistik Optimises Operations for Potential Motorcycle Delivery Surge During New Academic Year Holiday

KAI Logistik, through its retail delivery service, is taking various anticipatory steps to address a potential increase in motorcycle shipment volumes to the Special Region of Yogyakarta, known as one of Indonesia’s largest education hubs. This comes ahead of the extended university holiday period and the new academic year, which typically runs from June to July. Yudhi Kurniawan, Central Region Manager of KAI Logistik, stated that the current trend in motorcycle deliveries remains relatively consistent with patterns from previous years. “As of early June, no significant surge has been observed, but the daily average has increased by approximately 20 per cent compared to the same period last year. Based on last year’s historical trends, KAI Logistik projects the peak of deliveries will occur in July, coinciding with the period when students return to campus after the semester break and the new academic year begins. During that period, motorcycle shipment volumes could potentially increase by two to three times compared to the normal daily average,” Yudhi said, as quoted from his statement on Thursday, 25 June 2025. To ensure services remain optimal and meet customer expectations, KAI Logistik has undertaken various operational preparations, including ensuring the availability of packing equipment and supporting materials, updating packing completeness standards, and providing briefings to service and operational staff regarding service quality improvements during the peak period. KAI Logistik continues to apply strict operational standards in the motorcycle delivery process through vehicle inspections according to a checklist, thorough documentation upon acceptance, before and after the packing process, and quality control of packaging to ensure the condition of the shipment is maintained. In addition to arranging vehicles efficiently while observing safe distances, the company also continues to coordinate with train journey escort officers and destination stations to anticipate the increase in shipment volumes. The entire delivery process is conducted based on transaction order to maintain transparency, service accuracy, and customer satisfaction. Furthermore, Yudhi added that KAI Logistik has also prepared a capacity adjustment scheme should a delivery surge exceed the daily transport capacity.
