PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), or KAI, has officially launched a digital platform called Space by KAI, designed to connect the company’s strategic assets with the needs of businesses. KAI’s Director of Business and Business Development, Rafli Yandra, stated that the company holds various strategic assets with significant business potential that can be developed jointly with business partners. “Behind its transport services, KAI actually possesses many assets of enormous value that also have commercial business opportunities which can be developed,” Rafli said during the launch in Jakarta on Wednesday. Rafli explained that KAI’s assets include stations, transit areas, commercial spaces, vacant land, buildings, and heritage assets spread across various regions. However, this potential has not been fully managed and commercialised optimally. “Space by KAI, which we present as KAI’s official platform, can connect strategic assets with various business opportunities transparently. Moreover, its development can be carried out professionally together with partners,” Rafli said. According to Rafli, the platform is not merely an asset catalogue, but an initial gateway for partnerships that allows businesses to see business opportunities, understand their potential, and initiate collaboration through a simpler process. Rafli added that KAI has the advantage of an extensive operational network with a traffic target reaching 560 million passengers this year. “This condition creates a large market as well as a captive market, thereby becoming an added value for developing various business models,” Rafli said. Rafli hopes that businesses will no longer view KAI solely as a transport operator, but as an ecosystem that offers various collaboration opportunities. He noted that this transformation involves not only digitising systems but also transforming how partnership relations are built. Separately, Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, said Space by KAI allows investors, business actors, and business partners to access information on KAI’s assets spread across Indonesia more easily and quickly via the space.kai.id website. Anne stated that the platform’s launch was driven by the need for a more efficient asset marketing system that is easily updated and capable of reaching more potential investors and business partners. She explained that KAI manages various types of assets suitable for business activities, ranging from land and buildings to commercial spaces in stations, company housing, advertising media, and other railway operational support assets. Through digital search features and interactive map-based visualisation, users can browse assets by location or desired business needs.
