REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait, accompanied by the Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Body (BP BUMN) and COO of Danantara Dony Oskaria, inspected several plots of land owned by PT KAI at various locations in Jakarta on Sunday (5/4/2026). The two were joined by several PT KAI executives in mapping land that will later be used for community housing development.

The inspection is part of President Prabowo Subianto’s instructions to accelerate the arrangement of settlement areas around railway tracks. The President has tasked PT KAI with preparing land for decent and affordable housing for the public.

The inspection was conducted using an Inspection Train, traversing the route from Tanah Abang Station to Kampung Bandan Station, including the Blok E and F unloading areas as well as the Kampung Bandan Blok A area. From the train, the group directly observed the existing conditions of settlements around the railway tracks as part of the initial inventory process.

The series of activities continued with an inspection of KAI assets on Kemukus Street, Central Jakarta, which serves as one of the alternative locations for mapping areas to be arranged gradually. The visit then proceeded back to assets around Tanah Abang Station and the Tzu Chi Cinta Kasih Flats in Cengkareng as a reference for structured housing in supporting the arrangement of railway embankment areas.

Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait explained that the government continues to push for the acceleration of providing decent housing for the public through cross-sector collaboration. During the visit, he said, synergy between the government, SOEs, and the private sector has produced concrete steps in the form of readiness to build apartments on state land.

“We are working quickly for the people’s interests, and today there is already a concrete step through plans to build apartments on state land. This is the result of synergy between the government, SOEs, and the private sector to provide more decent and affordable housing for the public,” said Maruarar.

COO of Danantara Dony Oskaria stated that preparing land and building housing is part of the government and SOEs’ commitment to providing benefits for the public. He emphasised that collaboration between ministries and SOEs is a key factor in accelerating the realisation of housing programmes in various regions, especially in high-density areas.

“This programme is part of our commitment to providing decent housing for the public. Through synergy between ministries and SOEs, we are optimistic that housing provision can proceed more quickly and provide broader benefits for the Indonesian people,” said Dony.

President Director of PT KAI Bobby Rasyidin stated that the inspection is part of accelerating steps in the process of inventorying areas and preparing gradual arrangements. He is also ready to free up KAI-owned land that is still illegally occupied by some parties.

“KAI will immediately conduct an inventory of public settlements around the railway tracks, starting from priority points and expanding to other areas. This step runs parallel with securing railway areas and coordination with relevant ministries to prepare housing solutions,” said Bobby.
