KAI: KRL Facility Evacuation Still Ongoing, Safety Prioritised

Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) states that the evacuation process of KRL facilities following the collision at Bekasi Timur Station is still ongoing, prioritising the safety of personnel and ensuring that handling is carried out quickly and accurately. “As of now, the KRL facility evacuation process is still being carried out at the location,” said KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday evening. She said that the handling is being carried out in stages with full caution, ensuring that all safety aspects are met before operations resume. She also stated that the main focus at this time is to ensure the evacuation process runs safely and in a coordinated manner. “The team on the ground continues to carry out the evacuation with caution. We ensure that journeys will only be operated after all safety aspects are met,” said Anne. On Wednesday morning (29/4), according to Anne, KRL journeys will still be limited only to Bekasi Station. In line with developments in on-site handling, services are planned to resume gradually to the Bekasi-Cikarang line in the afternoon. The incident in the Bekasi area brings deep sorrow. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) conveys condolences to all affected parties. “KAI understands that this situation impacts customer mobility and apologises for the inconvenience that has occurred,” said Anne. Anne emphasised that information will continue to be updated in line with developments in on-site handling. PT KAI ensures a 100 per cent refund of ticket fares for all long-distance train passengers affected by the cancellation of journeys due to the collision incident between the Commuter Line and long-distance train at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday evening (27/4). “KAI provides a 100 per cent refund of ticket fares excluding booking fees for affected customers. We ensure that the entire process can be accessed easily through various service channels,” said Anne. Meanwhile, based on updates until 13:26 WIB, 15 people were recorded as deceased and 88 people injured. All deceased victims have been taken to RS Polri Kramat Jati for identification processes, while injured victims are receiving treatment at several hospitals. “We convey our deepest condolences to the victims and the families left behind. We also apologise for the inconvenience felt by customers in this situation,” said Anne. Amid the difficult conditions, KAI strives to ensure that every victim is handled well, families continue to receive clear information, and customers receive their rights through a full ticket refund process.
