KAI Jember Records Surge in Passengers During Return Flow
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI Daerah Operasi 9 Jember has recorded a significant surge in the number of passengers entering the end of the long holiday period and the Lebaran return flow momentum this weekend. The high mobility of the public returning to their hometowns or workplaces has crowded stations in the KAI Daop 9 Jember region with passengers.
Based on cumulative data for the period from 11 to 27 March 2026, the total passenger movement in the KAI Daop 9 Jember region has reached 362,629 people. This figure consists of 177,073 departing passengers and 185,556 arriving passengers, reflecting the high mobility flow of the public during this year’s Lebaran transport period.
On Friday, 27 March 2026, the volume of departing passengers was recorded at around 12,000 people. This number is predicted to continue increasing in line with the peak return flow occurring over the weekend.
Manager of Law and Public Relations for KAI Daop 9 Jember, Cahyo Widiantoro, stated that KAI remains committed to providing the best service to customers amid the high passenger volume. “The return flow momentum this weekend demonstrates the high trust of the public in rail transport. We continue to ensure operations run smoothly, safely, and comfortably for all customers,” said Cahyo on Friday, 27 March 2026.
KAI Daop 9 Jember also reminds the public who are still planning return flow trips to book tickets immediately. In addition, customers can take advantage of various ongoing promotional programmes.
“We invite the public to utilise the available discount programmes, such as a 30 percent discount as part of the government stimulus for economy class commercial and the Silaturahmi promo with up to 20 percent off for executive class. These programmes are expected to provide convenience as well as added value for customers in planning their trips,” he added.
KAI Daop 9 Jember also urges all customers to arrive early at the station, pay attention to departure schedules, and follow all travel regulations to maintain smoothness together during the Lebaran return flow period.
With the trend of increasing passenger numbers occurring this weekend, KAI Daop 9 Jember is optimistic about continuing to provide reliable transportation services and becoming the primary choice for the public in the 2026 Lebaran return flow trips.
