KAI Jakarta Opens Up Public Spaces to Community Activities
Jakarta (ANTARA) — PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero)’s Jakarta Regional Operations Area 1 (Daop 1) is open to collaborations and beneficial community activities in public spaces, including Manggarai Station Park, provided they prioritise safety, order, cleanliness and the smooth operation of railway services.
KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Public Relations Manager Franoto Wibowo said the use of public areas within station grounds must be coordinated and comply with applicable regulations, so community activities can take place alongside the station’s primary function as a transport facility.
“KAI will continue to build good relations with the public and various stakeholders, and support beneficial activities in accordance with applicable regulations, as part of the company’s commitment to serving people better,” Franoto said in an official statement on Monday.
An installation art exhibition titled “Saling Sangga” has been running at Manggarai Station Park since Sunday (25 October). The exhibition, which runs until 31 October 2026, is part of an arts programme involving the Ngakarya Art Community and other parties, including the Jakarta Provincial Culture Office and the Jakarta Arts Council (DKJ).
“We are supporting it by facilitating permits to use the location, so that public areas around the station can host creative activities that add value to the surrounding environment,” Franoto said.
The programme gives children the opportunity to discover art, develop their imagination and express ideas through drawing activities. The Kanvas Class also demonstrates how community initiatives can benefit the surrounding area through simple but meaningful educational activities.
In addition to the educational activities, the “Saling Sangga” exhibition features an installation artwork titled “NO ROOF STANDS ALONE” by Doodz.
The work explores the idea of solidarity: differences should not prevent people from supporting one another and growing together.
Through the work on display at Manggarai Station Park, the public is invited to reflect on the importance of human relationships, social care and the spirit of gotong royong in everyday life.
The exhibition’s message of solidarity is also a reminder that public spaces play an important role as places where people from different backgrounds and activities come together.
