KAI Jakarta: Lebaran 2026 Transport Passengers Rise by Four Percent
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT KAI Daerah Operasi (Daop) 1 Jakarta recorded 990,974 train passengers departing from Jakarta during the 2026 Lebaran transport period, marking a four percent increase from the same period in 2025, which had only 945,735 passengers. “We recorded a four percent performance improvement compared to the previous year. This indicates that public trust in trains is increasingly high, especially during the Lebaran transport period,” said Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, in Jakarta on Monday. According to him, amid the high mobility of the Lebaran return flow, trains are able to provide more certain journeys, free from obstacles, and on time, allowing arrival schedules to be predicted well. “This becomes an important factor for customers returning to Jakarta to prepare for post-Lebaran activities,” Franoto stated. From the comfort perspective, he added, arriving passengers can enjoy a pleasant journey with adequate facilities during long-distance travel. Furthermore, he said, the maintained safety aspect through standardised operational systems also makes trains a reliable mode of transportation. He further explained that as the peak mudik period ends, the current focus of KAI Daop 1 Jakarta’s services is on ensuring smooth passenger arrivals at major stations, including Gambir, Pasar Senen, Jatinegara, Bekasi, and others. “Although the Lebaran transport period is still ongoing until 1 April 2026, we ensure that all operations run well, safely, and smoothly,” Franoto revealed. Meanwhile, for the post-Lebaran period (30 March-1 April 2026), approximately 91,533 seats are still available for the public to utilise.
