KAI Jakarta: Eid 2026 Travel Capacity Reaches 68 Per Cent Occupancy
Jakarta — PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta has recorded that by mid-way through the 2026 Eid travel season, 732,064 tickets have been sold with a temporary occupancy rate of approximately 68 per cent.
Franoto Wibowo, Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, stated in Jakarta on Tuesday that during the 2026 Eid travel period running until 1 April, a total of 1,083,623 long-distance train seats have been provided.
The organisation noted several departure dates approaching Eid are at full capacity, including 14 March (51,128 tickets), 15 March (52,008 tickets), 16 March (52,819 tickets), and 17 March (51,225 tickets).
“Nevertheless, for departures from 21 March to 1 April, there are still approximately 30,000 seats available on average each day,” said Franoto.
The government has also provided stimulus in the form of a 30 per cent train ticket discount for commercial economy class during the period of 14-29 March 2026.
In the Jakarta Daop 1 region, approximately 329,000 seats are available in this programme, with approximately 56,000 seats still remaining for public use.
During the 2026 Eid travel season, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta is operating 68 regular long-distance train services daily.
Additionally, 19 additional Eid train services have been prepared, consisting of 12 additional trains from Gambir Station and 7 additional trains from Pasar Senen Station, as well as 4 free motor train services.
Several trains have become favoured by the public for this journey home. From Gambir Station, the most sought-after trains include Pandalungan, Argo Semeru, Gunungjati, Cakrabuana, Pangandaran, and Batavia.
Meanwhile, from Pasar Senen Station, the favourite trains for homebound travellers include Bengawan, Airlangga, Serayu, Kertajaya, Jayakarta, and Progo.
