KAI Jakarta: 683,000 People Travel by Train During May 2026 Long Holiday
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 1 Jakarta recorded that the number of long-distance train (KAJJ) and local train passengers during the long holiday period from 25 May to 2 June 2026 reached 683,516 people.
Franoto Wibowo, Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, noted that during the holiday period encompassing Idul Adha, Vesak, and Pancasila Day, the volume of long-distance train departures was 300,742, while arrivals reached 2int 288,113. “The high mobility of the public during this long holiday period demonstrates that trains remain the primary choice for intercity travel,” said Franoto in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Regarding departure stations, Pasar Senen Station recorded the highest passenger volume with 114,017 passengers, followed by Gambir Station with 97,570 passengers. Other significant stations included Bekasi, Jatinegara, Cikarang, Karawang, and Cikampek. In terms of arrivals, Pasar Senen was also the busiest destination with 97,265 passengers, followed by Gambir Station with 92,727 passengers.
Sukabumi Station recorded the highest volume of local train passengers for both departures and arrivals, with 23,396 departures and 23,253 arrivals. Bogor Paledang Station followed with 15,734 departures and 15,531 arrivals. Overall, during the period from 25 May to 2 June 2026, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta served 348,174 departing passengers and 335,342 arriving passengers, comprising both long-distance and local train customers.
Franoto mentioned that during the same period, the occupancy rate for long-distance train services showed positive results, averaging 82.7 per cent. Commercial Economy Class recorded an occupancy of 90.4 per cent, while Executive Class reached 71.4 per cent. Meanwhile, the PSO (Public Service Obligation) Economy service recorded an occupancy of 106.9 per cent. For the Pangrango and Siliwangi local train services, the overall occupancy rate reached 94.3 per cent.
“Public confidence in railway transportation continues to show a positive trend,” stated Franoto. He further noted that the high passenger volume and occupancy rates during the long holiday serve as motivation for KAI to continuously improve the quality of service, safety, security, and travel comfort for all passengers.
