KAI Investigates Cause of Duri-Tangerang Commuter Train Service Disruption

The KRL Duri-Tangerang route experienced disruptions and a breakdown. KAI Commuter is investigating the cause of the KRL breakdown. The breakdown occurred on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, in the afternoon, leading to the cancellation of two Commuter Line Tangerang services. “The cause of the KRL disruption is still under investigation, and the affected trainsets are currently being handled at KAI Commuter’s maintenance facility,” said VP Corporate Secretary Karina Amanda when contacted on Thursday, 28 May 2026. Karina confirmed all KRL trainsets undergo regular maintenance, which is conducted periodically. “KAI Commuter is committed to maintaining the reliability of our KRL services to ensure the safety of Commuter Line journeys and all passengers. All operational Commuter Line facilities undergo periodic maintenance, including daily checks before service and regular testing by regulators,” she said. Karina stated the company coordinates with the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to prepare for extreme weather conditions. “In response to extreme weather, KAI Commuter, along with PT KAI, coordinates with relevant parties such as BMKG to implement preventive measures ensuring the reliability and safety of infrastructure and rolling stock for Commuter Line operations.” “We apologise to all passengers for the operational disruption on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, and will continue to evaluate and improve our services for the public,” she added.
