KAI Installs Temporary Gate at Bekasi Timur Level Crossing
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 1 Jakarta has installed a temporary gate at the JPL 86 level crossing located on Jalan Ampera, near Bekasi Timur Station. This measure is intended to improve the safety of train journeys and road users.
“We would like to inform that what has been installed currently is a temporary gate, not an official crossing gate. This is part of the initial stage of safety enhancement,” said Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, in Jakarta on Friday (1/5/2026).
He stated that the temporary gate can be guarded through the self-help efforts of the local community in coordination with the sub-district office. In conditions where there is no guarding, the gate must be in the closed position as a safety measure for the train journeys and the community using the road.
Franoto emphasised that the guarding aspect is a crucial factor in the operation of the level crossing.
If the JPL 86 crossing on Jalan Ampera cannot be fully guarded 24 hours a day, then for the sake of collective safety, KAI will close the crossing.
