KAI Implements Operational Engineering Due to KA Bangunkarta Derailment in Bumiayu
Purwokerto, Central Java (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is implementing operational pattern engineering for train journeys as a result of the KA Bangunkarta derailment at Bumiayu Station platform in Brebes Regency, Central Java, on Monday. In a written statement from the Public Relations of PT KAI (Persero) Operational Region 5 Purwokerto, received in Purwokerto, Central Java, on Monday, KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba stated that the derailment of KA (161) Bangunkarta on the Jombang-Pasarsenen route occurred on Monday at 14:15 WIB at Km 312+1, causing disruptions to journeys on both upstream and downstream tracks, meaning the route cannot yet be traversed. “KAI extends apologies to all customers for the journey disruptions caused by this incident,” she said. She assured that all customers and train crew are safe with no fatalities. Currently, the evacuation process for the derailed train consist is being accelerated with support from TNI, Police, and local community elements to restore the track’s functionality as soon as possible. According to her, safety and fulfilling customer service rights are the company’s top priorities in handling the incident. As a quick measure to minimise disruption impacts, KAI has prepared onward transport (overstep) in the form of 10 bus units to deliver customers to their destination stations or connect interrupted journeys. In addition, KAI is providing service recovery in the form of food and drinks to customers in accordance with applicable provisions. “Field officers continue to provide assistance and the latest information so that customers remain comfortable during the handling process,” said Anne. To maintain overall operational smoothness, KAI is applying several operational pattern engineerings to train journeys in the affected area. Several journeys have been fully cancelled, including KA Sawunggalih (113 and 116), KA Taksaka (45 and 48), KA Purwojaya (54-55 and 60F-57F), and KA Joglosemarkerto (185-186). Meanwhile, a partial cancellation scheme for routes and mutual consist exchange (wet overstep) is applied on the Prupuk-Purwokerto line for KA Kamandaka, KA Sawunggalih, and KA Purwojaya, as well as partial cancellation for KA Ranggajati. KAI is also diverting routes for several long-distance trains, such as KA Argo Semeru, KA Gayabaru Malam Selatan, KA Progo, and KA Senja Utama Yogyakarta via the Kroya-Bandung-Cikampek line. Meanwhile, KA Bima, KA Manahan, and KA Jakatingkir are diverted via the northern route through Semarang. “Officers from the rail track, bridge, and facilities units continue to work at the incident site to ensure the track returns to operational standards in accordance with safety requirements,” said Anne.
