KAI hopes BSI-MITJ collaboration will develop the Dukuh Atas LRT station into an economic hub

Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) (KAI) stated that the naming rights collaboration between PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BSI) and PT Moda Integrasi Transportasi Jabodetabek (MITJ) could serve as a starting point for developing stations into community economic hubs.

The two state-owned enterprises inaugurated the naming rights collaboration for the Dukuh Atas LRT Station Bank Syariah Indonesia this morning. Previously, the station was named the Dukuh Atas LRT Station BNI.

‘We want this station to become a centre for activity, so there are many potentials we can explore and develop,’ said I Gede Darmayusa, Director of Portfolio Management and Information Technology at KAI, in Jakarta on Friday.

He noted that they are currently striving to make the station a comfortable space for people to gather, enjoy culinary offerings, and even purchase daily necessities, especially with minimarket branches at several stations, not merely as a transit hub.

‘Now, I am confident the naming rights (hak penamaan) is just a starting point,’ he continued.

Gede said that KAI’s assets are not limited to station buildings or other rail facilities, but also the movements and flows of passengers.

He noted that each year KRL Commuter can serve up to 520 million passengers, while the Jabodebek LRT can serve 120 thousand passengers per day.

‘These passengers are also among our most valuable assets at present. So where there are passengers, there is an economy in motion,’ Gede said.

The naming rights collaboration between BSI and MITJ at the Dukuh Atas LRT Station is the second such collaboration after MRT Lebak Bulus.

Similarly, MITJ’s President Director Fuad IZ Fachroeddin hopes that BSI’s presence at LRT Dukuh Atas can boost financial literacy and financial inclusion for the public, especially in the shariah sector.

He said that the public can shop using the BYOND app by BSI at various merchants located within the station, or transact through the BSI ATMs available.

‘So, this is more than just naming rights within the station; it is a point of transaction location for Bank Syariah Indonesia with its customers,’ Fuad added.
