KAI Halts Trains from Jakarta to Java Following KA Argo Bromo Collision with KRL in Bekasi
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has temporarily halted long-distance train operations from Jakarta to several cities on Java Island following the accident between KA Argo Bromo Anggrek and a KRL at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday night (27/4/2026). The suspension applies to departures from Pasar Senen and Gambir Stations as a measure to accelerate the evacuation process at the incident site. “Trains departing from Jakarta, both from Pasar Senen and Gambir, we are stopping operations tonight to Java, so this will speed up the evacuation process,” said Anne at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday night. “Regarding this incident, it will certainly be investigated by the relevant parties,” she added. In the incident, KAI reported three fatalities. Additionally, 38 KRL passengers sustained injuries and have been taken to several hospitals around Bekasi, including RSUD Bekasi, Primaya, and Mitra Keluarga. Meanwhile, all passengers on KA Argo Bromo Anggrek are confirmed safe, with a total of 240 passengers on board. KAI has also opened an information post at Bekasi Timur Station and provided contact centre services at 121 to assist victims’ families in obtaining information. As of now, the evacuation process is still ongoing, involving joint personnel from KAI, TNI-Polri, medical teams, and Basarnas.
