KAI Expo 2026 Offers Up to 30 Per Cent Train Ticket Discounts; Mark Your Calendars
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), known as KAI, is offering train ticket discounts of up to 30 per cent during the KAI Expo 2026, held from 4 to 6 September 2026. Anne Purba, Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, stated that this programme provides the public with an opportunity to plan journeys at more economical rates, with the discount amount adjusted based on the time interval between the ticket purchase and the departure date.
“KAI is offering discounts of up to 30 per cent for the public who purchase tickets during KAI Expo 2026,” Anne said in a written statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (2/9/2026).
Anne noted that KAI Expo 2026 is part of KAI’s efforts to increase public interest in using rail transport while providing various fare options for customers. She explained that customers can obtain larger discounts if they make purchases well in advance.
“The greater the time interval between the purchase and the departure within the specified period, the larger the discount customers can receive,” said Anne.
The discount structure is divided into three schemes. Customers will receive a 30 per cent discount for departures scheduled 41–45 days from the purchase date, a 10 per cent discount for departures 6–40 days away, and a 5 per cent discount for departures within 0–5 days of the purchase date.
“To illustrate, if a customer purchases a ticket on 4 September 2026, the maximum discount of 30 per cent applies to trips with departure dates falling within the 41–45 day range after the purchase date,” Anne continued.
Under this scheme, Anne noted that customers who have planned their journeys earlier have the opportunity to secure larger discounts. She added that this structure provides options for customers according to their specific travel plans.
“Those who have planned their trips well in advance can take advantage of discounts up to 30 per cent, while trips with nearer departure dates will still receive discounted rates according to the regulations,” she added.
Anne stated that promotional tickets can be purchased at the KAI booth during the KAI Expo 2026 on 4, 5, and 6 September 2026. The promotion applies to commercial trains, including the Suite Class Compartment, Luxury, Priority, and Panoramic classes, subject to ticket availability and the specified discount rates. She clarified that the promotional rates do not apply to special fares and cannot be combined with other reductions or discounts.
“Tickets purchased using the discounted rate can still be cancelled or rescheduled in accordance with the prevailing regulations,” said Anne.
