KAI Evacuates Collision Train Carriages in East Bekasi, Journeys Disrupted, Recovery Efforts Underway

Disruptions to train journeys occurred in the East Bekasi area on Monday (27/4/2026) evening, impacting operations on that route. The incident took place at the platform of Bekasi Timur Station at KM 28+920 around 20:52 WIB, due to the PLB 5568A (CL KPB–CKR) blocking the PLB 4B (KA Argo Bromo Anggrek route Gambir–Surabaya Pasar Turi). Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, extended apologies to customers for the disruption. “Currently, PT KAI together with the police are conducting the evacuation process for the train carriages and handling victims at the scene,” Franoto stated in a press release to Kompas.com on Monday (27/4/2026). “We are striving as much as possible to ensure that train operations can return to normal as soon as possible,” he added. Coordination is also being carried out with relevant parties to expedite the evacuation process and restoration of train journeys. As a safety measure, the overhead power supply (LAA) on the Cibitung–Bekasi Timur route and the Bekasi Timur station platform has been temporarily deactivated. The company also urges the public to be cautious and comply with safety rules, especially in rail track areas and level crossings, to prevent similar incidents.
