Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has ensured the operational readiness of its facilities and infrastructure to serve the passenger surge during the Easter long holiday in 2026, supporting public mobility during this period.

“KAI ensures operational readiness during the long weekend period, both in terms of facilities, infrastructure, and customer services at stations and during journeys,” said KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba in Jakarta on Thursday.

She stated that public interest in travelling by train continues to grow with the national holidays for the Death of Jesus Christ on 3 April 2026 and Easter Day on 5 April 2026.

“The atmosphere of the long weekend holiday in early April 2026 is already beginning to be felt,” she said.

According to her, this can be seen in ticket purchases by prospective train users. As of 2 April 2026 at 3:00 PM WIB, ticket sales for the long weekend period of 2–5 April 2026 have reached 557,966 tickets out of a total capacity of 731,269 seats prepared.

“This figure shows the high enthusiasm of the public to utilise trains as a travel option during the long holiday,” said Anne.

Of the total sales, 469,411 tickets are for Long-Distance Trains, or 76% of the capacity of 617,733 seats. Meanwhile, sold Local Train tickets have reached 88,555, or 78% of the capacity of 113,536 seats.

For departures today, Thursday 2 April 2026, Anne continued, the projected customer volume is over 183,157 people. This figure, according to her, indicates that public movement is already becoming dense from the start of the long holiday period.

“And the number will continue to increase with ongoing bookings,” said Anne.

KAI records daily occupancy for the long holiday from 2–5 April 2026 (as of 2 April 2026 at 3:00 PM WIB): first, on 2 April 2026, 183,157 customers have booked tickets out of 182,226 seats prepared; then on 3 April 2026, 139,715 customers out of 182,026 seats.

Then on 4 April 2026, 104,389 customers out of 182,028 seats; and on 5 April 2026, 130,705 customers out of 181,966 seats prepared.

“KAI sees this pattern as a signal that the public has started planning trips earlier to enjoy the long holiday with a safe, comfortable, and punctual mode of transportation,” said Anne.

She assessed that the high occupancy on several trips also indicates strong customer interest in favourite routes during this long weekend period.

“This long holiday becomes a moment for the public to get moving again and enjoy trips to various regions. Ticket availability is still sufficiently open, and we are ready to serve customers safely, comfortably, and on time on every journey,” said Anne.
