KAI enhances safety culture within railway environments
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), in collaboration with the ‘Rail Runners’ (RR) running community, is campaigning for a healthy lifestyle while simultaneously enhancing the safety culture within the railway environment in Yogyakarta.
KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin stated in Yogyakarta on Sunday that the railway business is fundamentally a business of safety. Consequently, this celebratory momentum was utilised to conduct safety socialisation at the JPL 351 level crossing in Yogyakarta.
“Rail Runners is not merely a sports community, but also serves as a space for togetherness that strengthens synergy among railway personnel. Today, we are conducting safety socialisation at level crossings as a tangible manifestation of KAI’s commitment to campaigning for the safety of both train journeys and road users,” said Bobby.
Bobby added that since 2021, more than one thousand disruptions to train journeys have been recorded at level crossings. This has become a serious concern for management, prompting efforts to continuously improve public compliance in prioritising train movements.
During the educational campaign, community members urged the public to remain disciplined using the ‘BERTEMAN’ concept: Stop, Look right and left, Safe, and Proceed.
Echoing this sentiment, KAI Property President Director Ramdany noted that collaboration among KAI Group personnel through sports has proven effective in supporting work productivity.
Puji, the Chairperson of Rail Runners, expressed readiness to continue bringing positive missions to the public. “Moving forward, Rail Runners will continue to present activities that not only strengthen social bonds but also provide benefits to the community, including campaigning for railway journey safety,” said Puji.
Meanwhile, KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta Public Relations Manager, Feni Novida Saragih, added that the company is committed to conducting continuous safety education. “Road users’ compliance with regulations at level crossings is crucial for maintaining both personal safety and the smooth operation of train journeys,” said Feni.
