KAI emphasises that train sockets are for low-power devices
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi (Daop) 1 Jakarta emphasises that the power socket facilities inside trains are only for low-power devices, such as mobile phones, laptops, tablets, and other supporting devices. “The electricity supply inside the train is prioritised to support main facilities, such as air conditioning, lighting, automatic door systems, and passenger information devices. There is no additional capacity available for using high-power electrical appliances,” said Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, in Jakarta on Friday. He explained that several devices, such as rice cookers, hair dryers, or other appliances with heating elements, have high power consumption that can trigger overloads. If an overload occurs, the electrical system may experience disruptions or trips, resulting in the shutdown of main facilities and interference with travel comfort and safety. Franoto stated that the misuse of electrical appliances can also potentially cause excessive heat in the installation, short circuits, fire risks, and smoke in enclosed spaces, which disturbs other passengers. Such actions, according to Franoto, constitute misuse of facilities that can endanger travel safety. “We emphasise that every facility at stations or inside trains is part of the service system that must be maintained together. Misuse of facilities not only violates rules but can also endanger the safety of all customers,” Franoto stressed. In addition to inside the trains, KAI also provides charging facilities in the station areas. Moreover, several stations are equipped with coworking spaces that allow passengers to work more comfortably before departure. Franoto hopes that all passengers will increasingly understand the importance of maintaining public facilities and avoid actions that could disrupt train operations or safety.
