PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has reported that ticket sales for the 2026 Eid holiday transport service covering the departure period from 11 March to 1 April 2026 continue to show steady growth.

As of 10 March 2026 at 10.00 WIB, a total of 2,483,689 tickets had been sold, representing 55.2% occupancy of the 4,498,696 seats available across long-distance and local railway services.

“With this achievement, approximately two million seats remain available for the public to utilise,” stated Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI Anne Purba in an official statement on Tuesday (10 March).

For long-distance train services, 2,392,052 tickets have been sold, accounting for 67.0 per cent of the 3,571,760 available seats. This leaves approximately 1,179,708 long-distance railway seats available for booking by the public for Eid holiday travel.

For local train services managed by KAI, 91,637 tickets have been sold, representing approximately 9.9 per cent of the 926,936 available seats. Local train ticket sales typically increase closer to departure dates, as most services can only be booked from seven days before travel.

Anne stated that the public still has considerable opportunity to obtain railway tickets during this year’s Eid holiday transport period.

“Ticket availability remains substantial across various routes. We urge the public to plan their holiday travel promptly and take advantage of the various schedule options and promotions available,” she said.

Based on provisional data, peak outbound travel is predicted to occur three days before Eid with travel volumes expected to reach approximately 247,440 customers in a single day. This figure has potential to increase as ticket sales continue in the days leading up to Eid.

Popular destination stations for the 2026 Eid holiday transport include Pasarsenen, Gambir, Yogyakarta, Bekasi, Surabaya Pasar Turi, Purwokerto, Semarang Tawang, Bandung, Surabaya Gubeng, and Jatinegara. These stations serve as key mobility hubs for the public travelling to various destinations across Java island during the holiday period.

KAI is also encouraging the public to utilise the Ramadan Festive promotion programme, which remains available on selected railway services. As of 9 March 2026 at 21.00 WIB, 1,872 promotional tickets had been sold from the total quota of 5,460 tickets available, representing approximately 34.29 per cent of promotional capacity. This leaves 3,588 promotional tickets available for customers to utilise whilst stocks remain.

Additionally, the people’s economy train service has become one of the popular travel options during this year’s Eid holiday transport period. To date, ticket sales have reached 20,936 tickets from the total 27,368 available seats, representing approximately 76 per cent occupancy, and are expected to continue increasing as the peak travel period approaches.

KAI’s Daop 4 (Regional Operations Division 4) in Semarang, Central Java, is preparing 83,970 train seats for departures from Daop 4 stations ahead of the Chinese New Year period.

KAI has announced a 30 per cent discount on train ticket fares set to commence sales during the afternoon of Tuesday (10 February).

The Manager of Public Relations for KAI’s Daop 6 in Yogyakarta, Feni Novina Saragih, explained on Wednesday (4 February) that from Tuesday (3 February), ticket sales for long-distance trains for travel on the day before Eid (20 March) have opened.

Based on provisional data, the highest customer volume was recorded on 18 March 2026 with 7,706 customers, followed by 19 March 2026 with 6,543 customers.

During the peak Eid period, estimated to fall on 21–22 March, 6,692 seats were sold.
